IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) President and Chief Executive Officer Jose Mari Mercado said at the recent CommunicAsia conference and exhibit in Singapore last week that the industry would continue to upgrade its call centers to maintain the Philippines’ current standing as the top global voice hub. The Philippines is also a leader in nonvoice services. IBPAP, the enabling organization for the IT-BPO industry, was one of the country’s lead delegations to the event.
Call centers currently make up 60 percent of the country’s outsourcing industry. Upgrades in offerings and other efforts would enable the Philippines to hit its target of 1.3 million call center workers and US$25 billion in revenues by 2016.
