Healthcare BPO to generate US$1 billion in revenues before 2016
The Healthcare Information Management Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (HIMOAP) said the business process outsourcing (BPO) subsector it represents is likely to generate US$1 billion in revenues before 2016, earlier than its past projection. It also projects to have 100,000 full-time employees by 2016.
This optimism comes after healthcare information management services business process outsourcing (HIMS-BPO) had 114 percent growth in revenue (from US$462 million in 2012 to US$988 million in 2013), and 47 percent growth in employment (from 24,700 in 2012 to 44,849 in 2013).
Aside from increased revenues, HIMS-BPO provides additional employment options to graduates from all allied medical fields. HIMS-BPO services include telemedicine, pharmaceutical, revenue cycle management and clinical and non-clinical healthcare application support.
