Philippine business process outsourcing (BPO) firms are seen to increase their export earnings by around US$2 billion versus last year’s earnings from services to companies abroad. According to Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP’s) director for economic research, Zeno Abenoja, the industry earned export revenues of US$11.6 billion in 2012, US$13.34 in 2013, and is projected to grow by 15 percent to US$15.34 in 2014. BPO firms’ services for Philippine companies is not included in the computation of the figures. Also not included are foreigners’ investments in constructing BPO buildings and other infrastructure. Abenoja noted that the increased earnings may be partly attributed to greater demand for non-voice services.
