New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Reuben Levermore said that more Wellington, NZ-based companies are interested in investing in the Philippines due to its growing economy and improved business environment. One of the promising growth centers is the country’s business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, especially for engineering, ITC and specialized manufacturing.

New Zealand Trade Commissioner Hernando Banal said that there have been three trade missions since March, with more coming up, including the major trade mission to coincide with the ADB Business Opportunities Fair next year. The Phililppines was the NZ’s 12th largest export market in 2013 with food and beverage (F&B) products as NZ’s chief export to the Philippines. About 100 Kiwi companies currently export to the Philippines, 15 of them with physical offices in the country. Majority of the NZ companies prefer to deal with distributors or local agents rather than set up office.
